‘Her’ is a preview of a graphic novel I created for my Final Major Project whilst studying at the University of Huddersfield. It was created by combining scanned in versions of physical photographs, digital illustration software, and documented conversations I had with those who knew these women. The main font used is also based on June’s handwriting.

The narrative follows Sarah and Tracy as they try and piece together information about the previous three generations of their family, comparing what they already know and the memories of others. The initial first chapters deal with the conflicting perspectives of Joyce, and how people have the complete opposite memories of her compared to Tracy. ‘Her’ aims to bring these conflicting feelings forward for the two protagonists to face, and how individuals grow and change throughout their lives as they grow old.

The characters June, Joyce and Annie are real people who have since passed, but have been kept alive by photos and conversation.
